Henrico see big cuts to juvenile arrest numbers

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) –Henrico County is pushing to drastically cut the number of juveniles who end up behind bars.  On July 1, the police chief enacted a new policy that’s aimed to immediately cut those numbers

NBC12 asked Henrico Police to provide the number of juvenile charges for the first two weeks of July 2014  and compare that with the first two weeks of July 2015.  Police say there were 60 juvenile charges in 2014, compared to 18 juvenile charges this year.

Henrico Police chief Doug Middleton says this is a good sign this change is positive.”
